GEORGE SHEPHERD - Making it in Today's Music Business!

George Shepherd, born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio started drumming at the age of 15. Throughout high school George studied drum set, classical percussion, and marching percussion. His studies led him to a scholarship in percussion performance at the Northern Kentucky University. After a short time playing orchestral percussion and teaching marching drum lines professionally, George decided to again expand his musical studies by studying performance and music business at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts.

while attending Berklee College, he received the honors of Berklee Scholarship Ambassador and a Berklee achievement scholarship. He studied with drumming legends such as Casey Scheuerell, Skip Hadden, Ed Kaspik, Dave DiCenso, Larry Finn, Victor Mendoza, Bob Tamagni, Jamey Haddad, Steve Wilkes, John Riley, and other Berklee faculty.

In the spring of 2000, George organized and performed with a select group of Berklee students that traveled throughout the Midwest presenting clinics and performance workshops to music schools, universities, and underprivileged music programs. Upon his return, he began writing a series of inspirational drum books called the "Foundations in Groove" series.

After Berklee, George decided to relocate to Los Angeles California. After short while teaching and playing in California, he was offered the opportunity to work with the publishers of Stick It Magazine. In early 2003, after Stick It magazine stopped production, George started the world's first digital drumming magazine, DrumPRO Magazine.

Distributed freely on the Internet, DrumPRO magazine has captured the spirit of the percussion community worldwide. Dedicated to cutting edge drumming material and forward thinking percussion concepts, DrumPRO Magazine is a resource that is meant to bring the percussion community worldwide to a new level.

George Shepherd has traveled the country performing and teaching drum students of all levels. His background includes an extensive knowledge of marketing, the music business, the Internet, percussion technology, classical percussion and contemporary drumming techniques. George remains true to his calling of spreading inspiration and the Gospel of drumming to the world.
